Salary: £85-£110 per day

Are you passionate about supporting young people with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs? We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated SEMH Support Assistant to join a specialist SEMH school in Bolton. This long-term role provides the opportunity to work closely with students who need tailored support to thrive in their education and personal development.

The Role

As an SEMH Support Assistant, you will:

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH needs.
• Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to foster engagement and emotional well-being.
• Assist in delivering lessons, interventions, and activities that cater to the needs of the students.
• Support students in managing challenging behaviours, using de-escalation strategies when needed.
• Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and other professionals to provide holistic support.
• Create a safe, nurturing environment that promotes students’ social and emotional development.

Requirements

We are looking for someone who:

• Has experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs, ideally in a school or similar setting.
• Is resilient, empathetic, and confident in managing challenging behaviours.
• Possesses excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Is proactive, adaptable, and committed to supporting the development of vulnerable young people.
• Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or Mental Health Awareness) are desirable but not essential.
